Hm… All dressed up and no place to go.
Today’s kind of a let down, unfortunately. The highlights of my day – since I got stuck with all day duty – were gonna be dinner at Teppanyaki and the crew party tonight.
Well dinner kind of fell through. I was scheduled to be in the theater for the showing of the sing-along version of “The Sound of Music.” I thought it was going to be a simple matter of dropping the screen and turning it on… but apparently I had to stay there the whole time because of adjusting the volume up and down during the songs. People started singing and I had to turn the sound up. Songs were over, and I had to turn it back down… Or whatever. Blah blah blah… I had never seen it before though, and actually kind of enjoyed it. The cruise director (Soozy) had some pretty hilarious comments throughout the show that definitely made it funnier… But… Blah. So anyway I had to skip dinner with them, and settle for the staff mess instead. Lame.
OH and speaking of which, lunch today… The mess was closed so cold-wind-deck barbecue it was. As they were about to shut it down, so there wasn’t a whole lot of good stuff left. Also lame.
So… anyway, I’m thinking the party is in Spinnaker again – which is a pretty cool bar up on deck 13 – and is going to be more or less like last time. Last time, it started at 11:30… So after “The Sound of Music” was over at 11, I went down on the big hallway on deck 4 (what we call the I-95), where the crew events bulletin board is… Looked, and the party had started at 10:30 and was in the Sky Bar. No big deal, it goes til late. That being said, I don’t really know anything about the Sky Bar… I came back to the cabin, and changed into some nicer clothes. Last crew party, I wasn’t really sure what was happening and felt a little unsure… This time, I was pretty excited and went up there with a little more confidence and excitement. And got up to the Sky Bar to find… very loud music, outside in the cold, with maybe 20 or 25 people sitting all huddled in hoodies. Not nearly as “happenin’” as last time… And cold. So I skipped out. Also lame. Bah.
You know it’s a bad day when the highlight of your day is sitting through “The Sound of Music.”
Mawr.
